Down Under and 10 Steps Behind
If you want to know about Australia, the lucky country, you have to be honest and see how the First Australians still suffer and how ignorant and bigoted most Ozzies still are. Sometimes I am so ashamed to call myself an Australian.
I will keep posting John Pilger’s Utopia because people need to know how things really are here in this country. Australia is not the lucky country. It is a country of rich and poor, where Affluenza and ignorance are rampant. We are a country that mimics the rest of the worlds values and our government does what the UK and US governments tell it to do. We are owned by greedy corporations and dominated by a culture of rampant ‘if then happiness’ materialism, in which the media and governments portray a picture of endless economic growth, in which every one can succeed. That my friends, is not how things really are. Having worked with Aboriginal people and with the land, I know first hand how badly we have treated Aboriginal people and the land that we stole from them.
Please consider sharing this post and encouraging people to learn about the real Australia. Or consider supporting the work of John Pilger (http://johnpilger.com/) or The Fred Hollows Foundation in Aboriginal communities (http://www.hollows.org/au/what-we-do/indigenous-australia?lang=en-au).
