Preparing for the Future of Artificial Intelligence
I for one do not believe in any coming AI singularity and all the chaos that people associate with AIs taking over the world. I agree with Dude, who said that, “Humans are more of a threat to AI”. But I do believe that we ought to be setting up laws associated with AI and thinking about a wide range of ethical considerations.
Earlier in the year, the White House announced a series of workshops and working groups looking into the future of AI (https://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2016/05/03/preparing-future-artificial-intelligence) and released a document called “Preparing for the Future of Artificial Intelligence” https://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/whitehouse_files/microsites/ostp/NSTC/preparing_for_the_future_of_ai.pdf. I find it interesting that the White House is becoming more transparent about certain issues (see the Executive Orders as an example) and have started talking openly about the future of AI. The document above is an interesting read and an acute reader will note the departments that are mentioned in the document. You may wish to read this document and then re-read the presentation by Dennis Bushnell on the Future of Warfare : http://stopthecrime.net/docs/nasa-thefutureof-war.pdf / https://www.metabunk.org/attachments/future-strategic-issues-and-warfare-pdf.3295/ and see if you can recognize some of the overlap.
I fail to understand why no one appears to really dig into these documents and those that create them !
