TSM7 : Grass, Shapes & Colour

Holy fuck, what happened to this blog ? I don’t know but it’s a nice break from writing. And I promise I’ll resume writing.

Yesterday as I waited for my son to run some errands during his school lunch hour, I picked up my Ipod and recorded some more verbiage about the importance of grass, shape and colour and how they make us feel. I had to end my monologue a little abruptly, so perhaps I’ll go down this path again and see what else I can dig up about shape and colour.

  1. Nothing bad has happened; speaking and writing are of the same essence :). The difference is that when people write they tend to think out their thoughts and go into deeper subjects, but when they speak they often don’t put as much effort behind their words because they tend to see them as more impermanent. That doesn’t have to be the case, you can talk/write about grass, shapes, & color just as you can talk/write about your usual subjects. It’s the manner and detail in which you do it that will make it worthwhile to listen to, no matter what you are discussing. Also, it’s our expanded perception that allows our communications to have depth – and who said that perception has to be limited to one subject? The world is huge and encompasses everything. Why put yourself into a box? Doesn’t “God” or whatever people chose to believe in see, know, and love both ants and mountains? Having said that, I understand if some people prefer to see a more narrowly focused blog. But personally I like this, I think it’s important to expand, and this will give you insight into everything else that you focus on. Just my thoughts :).

    Have a great weekend!

  2. Thanx Bright!
    Have a nice trip 🙂 🙂 🙂

  3. Bright, I actually sent you 1 more note on Twitter because I could not write it here. Anyway, sorry for having to do that, I’ll try not to in the future. But please let me know that you have read it, if you can. There is something there that you might find interesting.

  4. Interesting discussion. I have never really thought about what nonphysical effects shapes might have, and I think its good out of the box thinking. I would imagine that a psychologist might have fun with this idea. It is curious that much of humanity from an architectural stand point tends to stick towards the traditional structures that we mostly expose our selves to. I also think that more recently engineers started exploring alternative shapes for more efficient and stability purposes and even looking into nature for reference. For example, for a long time I think it was believed that a regular cylinder was the appropriate choice for holding loads of weight (pillars), until more recently they were able to show that another shape that takes on the form of like a bow tie in a cylindrical manner was more effective (please, if there are any engineers scamming through here, feel free to correct and or comment).
